How we measure our impact, continuously improve, and design our projects to achieve the greatest possible positive outcomes.
To continuously enhance our efforts, we evaluate our work in collaboration with qualified evaluators and institutes. We also support our clients in measuring the impact of their work. The insights gained enable us and our clients to learn and constantly improve our work to further improve our projects’ effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability in close collaboration with partners. This ensures that our work achieves the greatest possible positive impact.

The develoPPP program, initiated by the BMZ, promotes private sector engagement in future markets. The aim is to provide financial and technical support to enable investment projects that improve living conditions in the project country. develoPPP Ventures focuses on promoting young companies with innovative business models and has been implementing projects in Kenya since 2021, in Tanzania since 2022, and in Rwanda since 2024.
With the aim of taking stock and generating insights for the further development of the instrument, DEG Impulse commissioned an independent interim evaluation. This is based on the six OECD criteria: relevance, coherence, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability – supplemented by an assessment of additionality. The theory-based evaluation from WINS Global Consult and Southern Hemisphere (WINS/SH) is based on a mixed-methods approach that includes qualitative content analysis of primary and secondary data, semi-structured interviews, and case studies in the two countries of implementation.
The Knauf Training Initiative (KTI) aims to enhance technical skills and career prospects in drywall construction for young people, students, and professionals in emerging markets. By establishing training centres, KTI provides both practical and theoretical education to improve employability. The project is supported by us as DEG Impulse through the develoPPP Classic programme.
We have commissioned CEval GmbH to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of KTI Phase I (2018-2023) and Phase II (2021-2026).The assessment especially examines the initiative’s relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability, as well as the additional impact generated through DEG Impulse’s support. Using theory based mixed methods design, the evaluation delivers key insights and actionable recommendations to further strengthen the initiative.
